It is so crazed and fearful, and out of proportion to the CURRENT situation with swine flu.

36,000 people die a year of influenza each year in the United States according to this new's story....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090428/ap_on_re_us/us_swine_flu_us

Currently, the strain in the US has been mild and the patients are recovering. Yes, the situation might get worse and public health officials are taking responsible actions.

The fear mongering drama being played out in the media is completely irresponsible and so typical of the way the MSM sensationalize any story to get maximum drama...

My daughter said it best - 'Mom - it is worse then my high-school gossip'.

Amen.

3. Your daughter nailed it
All those hours that cable news networks need to fill, so they bleat and bleat about this PANDEMIC, feeding the worst of the Chicken Littles who can't get enough "bad news." I swear, the ghoulish morbidity of some people is unsettling - I get the sense that they'll be terribly disappointed if this whole thing ends up being a small outbreak of limited exposure (which would be good), and there aren't bodies stacked like cordwood on the streets.

Meanwhile, torture is still big news, but only Keith Olbermann is keeping it on the front burner.........................
