There was a time when the Whigs were more conservative, but really the Tories were and are the conservative wing of the British parliament. Or is it that the Whig party is dead and that's your assessment of the GOP?

I have the feeling that when its useful to the US to have a second flavor of vanilla, we'll see the return of the GOP. --I've never cared for the Republicans as people. It's personal. But I can't see that the Democratic Party is doing anything so different from the GOP.

What we need is a real left wing in this country.
