Poll question: If you were issuing a ban on flights to and from Mexico for your country would you include Texas,

New Mexico, Arizona and California in your ban?

1. Just Texas - the others don't want to secede from the U.S.

2. Yes. Give Texas back to the Mexicans. Make Mexico "Texico" now.

4. As only someone who doesn't live on the border would say
close the border & shelves in the US will empty out in days.

That was pretty much my point.

6. Let the shelves emtpy out and put real Americans back to work filling them again
I see no problem with this solution at all.

7. What would that have to do with France or Germany canceling flights to Texas?

11. While we're at it, I say Ohio puts up walls, keeps out stuff from other states, lets the shelves
empty out, then put real Ohioans to work filling them again.

I realize the Constitution might present a small problem with my plan (interstate commerce and all), but why draw the line at building a wall around the country. Let's build walls around each state. Let each states residents refill those empty shelves.

Better yet let's have a mutual secession where each state becomes an independent country. Then we could erect trade barriers against each other and, through the magic of protectionism, we will all prosper.

Maybe walled cities can even make a comeback - not for military purposes, but economic. That way I won't have to trade with anyone who lives farther away than I can throw a rock. :)

8. What about NYC?
The largest outbreak in the US is occurring there.

12. And from NYC to the rest of the world.
Among business, tourism and personal visits (including back-and-forth between the many immigrant groups and their home countries), you could have a real hot spot of transmission should N.A. flu really get going.

I don't have statistics, but it would seem that more international travel begins, ends or stops in New York, not to mention other busy international airports like LAX and ORD.
