Tom Hartman is asking his listeners to call her office and ask her to become a Democrat.

1. She's clearly indicated otherwise.

8. Nope, she 's a dedicated repuke
and if you read that Times article you will see that they have failed on all the items that she says "make a republican". And she's too blind to see that. There's no hope for her.

10. Not so sure that she's blind....
I think it's more about how what she thinks a Republican should be and what they have become are two very different things.

2. It would be nice but I don't think it will happen
As for Specter, he's a snake in the grass and I wouldn't trust the bastard any further than I can see him

6. Exactly.
And with Specter out she is probably the senior GOP moderate in the Senate.

5. I think it will depend on how the remaining Pubs treat her.
I think that's what pushed Arlon over the edge. Almost all his fellow Pubs were berating him for his vote on the Stim. bill.

12. Arlen Wasn't PUSHED... He's Saving His Ass! Wants To Get Re-elected As A
Senator and knew he wasn't going to win. Although he has been "moderate" most of the time, I have seen him spout the Democratic side mantra many times, but when it came to the actual vote... he voted Repuke!

And don't forget, he did make the statement yesterday that switching didn't mean an automatic 60th vote. Still, it sends a good message to the country and REPUKES! Time will tell!

Sestak (sp) may upset his apple cart, but the big wig Democrats will pull a Lieberman and support Spector in the end. PA Dems WANT all the Democrats they can get and Spector is a BIG GET, so Sestak will probably get panned for now! At least he's elected to something, and probably it would be in his best interest to stay put until a better time.

I've watched Spector for a long time, and he HAS pissed me off many times, but I DO think he wants health care given what he's been through. Biden & he have had some serious health calls so they KNOW what it feels like to look at the possibility of sitting in a wheel chair for the rest of their lives or even death.

My take, the symbolism can't be overlooked and Repukes HAVE to take this seriously!!

she's not in the same type of electoral danger as Specter.

9. No. Maine still has moderate Republicans.
Edited on Wed Apr-29-09 11:59 AM by Occam Bandage
Specter switched because his state's Republican party was home only to the teabag crowd. While he is still quite popular statewide, everyone who supported him had already left the Republican party, meaning he wouldn't have won a Republican primary. In order for her to jump ship, she'd have to be in a situation like Jim Jeffords: badly mistreated by the Republican Party, and with no real eye on a political future. I'd be willing to bet the Republicans are sending her and Collins flowers and chocolates every day through 2010.

11. She might offend Rush Limbaugh in which case she will be driven out
From what Specter has inferred the moderates are being shoved aside pretty obviously. They could actually push her out if she doesn't tow their line.

13. Snowe is suffering from battered wife syndrome

No matter how much she gets beat up by the GOP leadership, she keeps going back to them.

She won't change.

14. First: The Club for Growths will target her
She and Sen. Collins.

I think it will happen by the end of the year, in time for the CfG to field pure Republicans for 2010. Even Collins, who isn't up for re-election then. To make a clean sweep.

They think Pelosi and Reid are traitors who must be purged -- I mean, Snowe and Collins.
