Deadly blasts hit eastern Baghdad

A series of suicide attacks killed at least 150 people in Iraq last week

At least 41 people have been killed and 68 more wounded after three car bombs exploded in Sadr City, a neighbourhood of Baghdad, police say.

Police told Al Jazeera that the toll from Wednesday's co-ordinated attacks is expected to rise.

The blasts occurred in three separate market places within minutes of each other during rush hour, an interior ministry official said.

Sadr City is a mainly Shia Muslim district of eastern Baghdad.

Several suicide attacks killed 150 people in just two days in Baghdad and the northeastern province of Diyala last week.
