FL Senate passes bill to outlaw sex with animals
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Having sex with animals could soon be outlawed in Florida.

The Senate unanimously passed a bill (SB 448) Tuesday that would make it a third degree felony for anyone to have sex with an animal. A similar bill in the House has not been debated on the floor.

Florida is one of 16 states without a law banning bestiality.

35. There shouldn't have been any laws
Since the Supreme Court decision Lawrence v Texas of 2003.

51. I can't find information on laws after 2003, only before
Edited on Wed Apr-29-09 05:58 PM by JonLP24
All I know is the Lawrence v Texas decision invalidated sodomy laws in all 50 states. I did find what the Florida was at the time of the decision.

Florida — All sodomy acts illegal. Penalty = (60 days/$500)

Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Virginia all had sodomy laws at the time of the ruling while other states had repealed it before the decision.

54. Artificial insemination requires masturbating male animals
It also requires inserting your hands in the female animal's nether regions. Either way, it's technically sex--especially since the intent of the whole exercise is to get the female animal pregnant, which last I checked is the reason there's sex in the first place.

Not providing a veterinary exception would outlaw a great deal of animal agriculture, especially anything having to do with cattle.

I would have thought that you could (depending on the circumstances) charge people under the existing cruelty to animals laws, and be done with it.

23. So these three dogs are sitting in the veterinarian office waiting room
and the first dog says to the second dog "What are you in for"?

The second dog replies, "Well, I can't stop barking. I bark at the postman, I bark at the master's kids, I bark at the neighbors, bark bark bark all day long. So my master has brought me in to get my balls snipped. What are you in for?"

The first dog answers, "I can't stop digging. I dig in the front yard, I dig in the back yard, I dig under the fence and I dig under the pool. I dig dig dig all day long, so my master has brought me to get my balls snipped too."

The first dog looks over to the third dog and asks, "What are you in for"?

The third dog replies, "I can't stop humping. I hump the couch, I hump my master's leg, I hump the cat, I hump hump hump all day long". Last night I saw my master's wife naked bent over filling the bathtub, and I just couldn't help myself..."

The second dog asks, "So you in to get your balls snipped too"?

Third dog answers, "Nope, nail trim".

not to throw a monkey wrench into the whole WTF is wrong with Florida kick that so many people enjoy... I can't help but notice that 34 other states have already had such a problem with this.. that they have laws on the books already.

I guess in Florida, animal molesting hasn't been the issue it has in 68% of the country... and most likely wouldn't be now, if it wasn't for all the transplants.

42. Animal husbandry is a whole different issue!
Rich's legislation would target only those who derived or helped others derive ''sexual gratification'' from an animal, specifying that conventional dog-judging contests and animal-husbandry practices are permissible.

That last provision tripped up Miami Democratic Sen. Larcenia Bullard.

''People are taking these animals as their husbands? What's husbandry?'' she asked. Some senators stifled their laughter as Sen. Charlie Dean, an Inverness Republican, explained that husbandry is raising and caring for animals. Bullard didn't get it.

''So that maybe was the reason the lady was so upset about that monkey?'' Bullard asked
, referring to a Connecticut case where a woman's suburban chimpanzee went mad and was shot.
