The 17 House dems who voted against the budget today:
Barrow (GA), Boren (OK), Bright (AL), Childers (MS), Foster (IL), Griffith (AL), Kratovil (MD), Kucinich (OH), Markey (CO), Marshall (GA), Matheson (UT), McIntyre (NC), Minnick (ID), Mitchell (AZ), Nye (VA), Taylor (MS), Teague (NM).

I'm curious as to why Kucinich voted against it.

1. Kucinich did it because there was not ENOUGH spending, enough healthcare,
And in short, was short to the right of Leon trotsky. I can respect that, the rest of these dinos however, did that to keep their Redneck credentials.

No funding for the school lunch program for aliens?

"Don't call them Grays -- they're Ashen-Americans!"

14. Perhaps this will put things into perspective for some of us here...
Kucinich "Will not Vote for the Expansion of War"

See how batshit crazy he is? Just like me.

War is a non-negotiable for us.

4. For the record, 6/17 are Blue dogs and 6/47 Blue Dogs voted nay
Yes this is pre-emptive. The assumption around here tends to be the Blue Dogs are the main obstruction bloc or naysayers to what the administration wants. About 13% of Blue Dogs voted against, and they made up only about 35% of the no votes.

5. Just watch, as our DUers excoriate the DLCers who voted no, while making excuses for Kucinich
People here treat K'nich like an overprotected spoiled child.

6. So long as it passed, I don't care who voted against it.
My congress-critter, Marshall (GA), evidently felt he needed cover. If the budget passed, then that's fine.

7. Indeed
We have 257 votes; that gives us some breating space, and it allows the Blue Dogs to have their temper tantrums, while we roll right over them.

With my representative, what you see is what you get...conservative douchebag.

11. Yes - one of 1/8th of the Blue Dog Coalition to so vote
So hardly a typical Blue Dog in this instance, right?

18. I certainly did want to know how he voted.
Ultimately, I think my congress-critter's heart is in the right place. The R's have run a serious contender against him for the past three cycles, and he has won them all, but it has been costly. He actually does need cover, and I am glad we have a big enough majority that the party could give it to him.

Kucinich, on the other hand, I do not understand. He doesn't need cover. Wat this an ideological purity vote from him?

19. Absolutely. That's the way it works.
We only need to win by one vote. Everyone else from a purple or red area that needs cover ought to be allowed to vote as they think their constituents would want. That, I think, is what happened here.

I am so sick of him, I wish we could get an actual Dem to run from here.

20. My hat's off to you, Cali for even being able to pay attention to this today.
I was so distracted by all the other stuff.

I'm grateful somebody we can trust is paying attention to, and reporting on, the budget votes.

Thank you.
