2. Don't think another car was involved
Heard that he was turning off the highway and ended up in a ditch.
Lots of rain today and I'm betting he had no idea how fast he was driving.

5. Everyone is OK - Jamaica was in a state of panic
which is mind-blowing given the lack of panic when the gas tax was announced last week.

There were three of them in the car. Usain was driving too fast on a wet road. It's been raining all day. I doubt if he'll run in the Jamaica international meet this weekend.

<snip>
The 22-year-old’s BMW M3, a gift from Puma, his sponsor, as a reward for his outstanding performances at the Beijing Games last summer, careered off the rain-soaked Highway 2000, one of Jamaica’s newest routes, in St Catherine with a police officer alleging that the sprinter had been speeding. Bolt had been travelling into Kingston from Clarendon when the accident occurred.

The car finished upside down in a ditch and eyewitnesses said that both front tyres were punctured and the left-front wheel was almost torn off. The front windscreen was shattered and the back windscreen was totally removed. A member of the vehicle recovery crew said that there were tyre marks for about 50 metres before the car came off the road.

Bolt had been travelling with a female companion. Both were treated at the Spanish Town Hospital in St Catherine and neither was said to have suffered worse than bruising. Norman Peart, the athlete’s manager, said that Bolt’s only injuries were three thorns stuck in a foot after he left the vehicle.

11. Two passengers
and they're all OK.
Wet roads and speed do not mix. He will learn.

You have to watch the coral dust on those roads--they can turn into a skating rink with a little rain.

I am SO glad it's nothing more serious.

He clearly must have hit someone or something, though, (ON EDIT--I see you told us the car flipped, that would account for it) before he found himself in the ditch. That car looks beat to shit (unless it's his "demolition derby" car):

Examination of the car by this reporter revealed no blood inside the car and no airbags had been visibly deployed. Both front tyres were punctured and the left-front wheel was almost torn off. The front windscreen was shattered while the back windscreen was totally removed.

A member of a Highway 2000 wrecker crew said that there were tyre marks for about 50 metres before the car came off the road.

And I hope it wasn't his girlfriend's head that shattered the front windscreen.....

7. Hope he's okay.
Shoulders can be hell. They can also mess up a lot of other mechanics. He should see the specialist in Alabama that all the professional athletes see. (Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, AL.)

9. No shoulder injury
Just thorns in his feet. I'm sure he'll be sore tomorrow.

How did no one post this for me.
