Alaska Governor Sarah Palin recently welcomed the crew from Orange County Choppers – whose custom motorcycle business is featured on TLC's American Chopper – to Anchorage where show star Paul Teutul Sr. researched building a bike to honor Alaska's 50-year anniversary of being a state.

"It means so much to the state of Alaska that these guys are building this bike that will honor statehood here," Palin says in the episode, airing April 30 at 9 p.m.

Paul Sr. hangs out with the Governor in her office and talks about the Alaskan weather, snowmobiling and fishing in the summer. "I inherit whatever Todd rejects from the year before," Palin says.

After inviting the OCC crew back for the summer months, she suggests having fun Alaska style, saying, "We'll ride the bike to the fishing hole."

19. That's her singular gift...
...she's able to draw freeps into a "hot & bothered" state...

...she totally lacks the ability to keep her mouth shut or withdraw to the backstage area...

...she's her own worst enemy.

There IS no STRATEGY beyond putting her "French pedicured" foot in her MOUTH.

18. That was my first thought
She seems to have a lot of spare time on her hands.

So I guess that means all of Alaska's problems have been solved?

11. If you did a TV show
and went to a state to film something you were doing for that states 50th anniversary and the Governor invited you would you turn her down and risk losing all those fans? Hell you may not even like the person but like the idea of talking to a Governor. Also note that it is American Chopper, AMERICAN, not good for Alaskans who want to make their own republic. Lots of Joe Tailpipes do vote Democrat you know. I happen to know more than one biker has been into making their own hot rod cars and bikes since before Johnson sent them to Vietnam and who has voted Democrat for president for Kerry and now votes Democrat for all offices (except he will not vote for Illinois Governor again if he is found gulity). Lots of dudes with beards, tatoos and the like vote Democrat. Most gearheads are in the working or middle class and actually benefit from having Democrats in power. Just like plenty of plumbers vote Democrat, so do many bikers, perhaps even the guys on the show. Need I point out also that lots of folks like riding motorcycles out to their favorite fishing holes AND VOTE DEMOCRAT TOO. Sarah Palin does not represent the kind of politics I like, but there are many people who like snowmobiles, fishing, hunting, motorcycles and the like who voted for Obama.

20. ah, so the hosts are Republicans
I still assert that many people that look like those guys, ride choppers, and listen to heavy metal vote Democrat.

21. I'm one of them, only I ride dirtbikes.
One of the dirtbike websites I go to is full of republicans with a few dems here and their. Mostly its because of the democratic environmental movement going against the sport, and that includes so many other motor sports.

22. Democrats supporting helmet laws
for road motorcycles did a lot to push bikers to vote Republican, but since the Democrats have mellowed out on that there is a lot less push to the right and more and more bikers start voting on the left. I have seen this in my father and his group of friends.

23. Well, I don't ride Harleys
but i'm a big, country lookin' hot rod guy, definitely a Dem - but most of us think that Paul Sr. is a dry drunk asshat, and a third-rate builder at best on his own. Perfect foil for Mama Sarah.

24. no argument there....I could just tell from daddy's demeanor that he's just a huge,
gaping, flaming, egomaniacal ahole, just for starters, and many of the things he's said on the shows I've seen (I quit watching because his presence became an instant channel changer for me)

you KNOW his kids hate his guts, and are really working hard (unsuccessfully) to cover it up

maybe a bit like madame Palin's daughter?

25. eh, whatever
I find the Dad and son mildly entertaining but I doubt I'd ever buy one of their overpriced ornaments no matter how much money I had. I was watching an episode the other night where they were actually riding the bikes and the one Pauly was riding was falling apart, they were looking for bolts and screws alongside the road. If I had paid $60-100k for a custom bike and it fell apart like that I'd be pissed. Must be the "hurry up and get it done, faster faster" mentality at work there.

I'd venture a guess that if you rode one of those as many miles and as hard as I ride my little Sportster on a daily basis, you'd have to rebuild the whole bike every 6 months or so.
