Anyone else get a Republican Robo call about Specter?
It was recorded by my voice mail so the first part was cut off. I deleted it in disgust without listening to the whole thing. I wish now that I had at least listened to it.

The first part seemed to be some Republican organization identifying itself, most of the start was cut of so I can't say what the organization was. Then a sarcastic sounding voice said something like "We'd like to introduce you to your new Democrat Senator" or something like that. At that point I forwarded it to the end and deleted it, but the "introduction" was most likely not something flattering.

1. Why would anyone spend money on this? Are you in PA? Perhaps they are
trying to paint Specter in a negative light in preparation for Toomey running against him?

3. Yes, I'm in PA.
I should have mentioned that. I am politically active and am on donor lists, so that's probably why I was targeted. I really wish that I had listened to it to see what they're trying to do.

2. I'm in Iowa so I got a robo-call from Steve King on Gay Marriage. I guess I answered the second
question wrong because they were done with me after that. Question 1 was "are you a registered voter?"

4. Here's a small article.
A national Republican group is launching a telephone blitz to remind Pennsylvania Democrats that their new senator—Arlen Specter—was endorsed by President Bush in 2004 and that he angered labor unions by opposing a bill to make it easier for workers to form unions.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee launched its "robocall" campaign Wednesday. Spokeswoman Amber Wilkerson said the group aims to reach 100,000 Democratic voters through Thursday.

The taped message includes audio clips of Bush endorsing Specter in his last election campaign and of Specter saying that the "card check" legislation supported by organized labor is "a bad deal."

Specter stunned political observers Tuesday when he announced he was ending a four-decade relationship with the GOP.

Specter's campaign had no immediate comment about the robocalls.

6. That's probably it.
It sounds like they're trying to hurt him in the primary, which means that they think he'll be a tough opponent in the general.

8. Well that is about just the same as some DUers were doing yesterday.
Bashing Specter helps get the repub elected.

5. The coolest thing I heard about Specter's action was from Michael Smerconish
On Morning Joe he said that callers to his radio show this morning were livid because they won't get the chance to vote against Specter in the primary. That's just the reason Specter gave for changing parties. He said he didn't want his 29 year career to be decided by the republican electorate in the up coming primary.

7. He was painfully honest about his reasons for switching.
It was all about keeping his office.
