Poll question: Should DU match Olbermann's offer $1,000 per second waterboarding of Hannity?
And would you donate $ to raise money for the match?

2. On Olberman tonight they showed The View was talking about it. That's funny.
The story has legs.

13. She said that Sean gave enough to military families and didn't need to
go through this because he gave enough.

22. And that Keith Olbermann is a horrible person seeking to improve his own ratings by picking on
Hannity.

LOL

24. Gave enough to the military families? Personally with his own money?
Or was it free shows? And if he gave his own money how much was it?

A very safe bet.

Put me down for $1,000.00.

Who wouldn't chip in a few bucks to see Hannity waterboarded.

7. Clearly, some of our members are still well employed.
But others are struggling. Too much so for this kind of frivolity.

8. Excuse me, but waterboarding is wrong ... even if it is done to the enemy Hannity
Even as a supposed joke. In fact, the jokiness of it makes it seem insignificant ... like a frat prank.

I don't think Olberman gets the hypocrisy of his position. Waterboarding is wrong. Period.

19. DU should sell a DVD of the event to recoup their donations
I would pay for such a DVD. It would be sweet to have multiple cameras, multiple views, all the raw uncut video, and the coup de grace: the microphone to the face asking the question "Now do you think Water Boarding is torture?"

20. I don't like this becoming a game
It takes away the horror of it. Talking about torture in the context of entertainment, which this has become, seriously diminishes the seriousness and sheer barbarity of it.

Oh yeah, let's throw some money in the pot to see how long this dude lasts being tortured. Rah, rah, throw some steaks on the grill, tap the keg and let's make a party of it. Does nobody see how sick that is? How much it reduces something as vile as waterboarding to a form entertainment that we of all people are actually enjoying?

Damn, why do you think the slob made the offer to begin with??? He intended to make light of waterboarding and people here are just eating it up. Well, excuse me, but this is one party I want NO part of.

Waterboarding for Charity. Holy flying monkey shit.

21. Funny, I thought torture is illegal
It is still illegal, even when it's done to Hannity. Since when has DU been about selective enforcement of the law? I thought we were fundamentally opposed to that sort of thing...now it's just a big joke. Go figure.

23. I learned yesterday that it's ok if we approve of it, because it's
actually just "calling his bluff" ("it's in this case = waterboarding.)

So, waterboarding does not necessarily mean torture. If it's voluntary, if it's on Hannity, if it's done in the privacy of our own homes, etc., it's ok. Yes, I learned this right here yesterday.

I would have thought that waterboarding/torture = bad juju.

25. The trouble with the wager is that Hannity would win as long as he could withstand 1 second.
NOW if it was for each second beyond 30 seconds or something like that then it would be a better wager.
