go home. Then go wash your hands with soap and hot water.

don't touch your face without washing or sanitizing first and don't turn into a germophobic freak. I work in a school and for that, I think my immune system has gotten only stronger. Kids have been hacking, sneezing, etc. since October. They cough all over their sick notes and then hand them to me. We have major allergy season here. I think it's getting a little hysterical...

28. Don't laugh, but I called in sick to work and they were ready to plan a funeral.

I was home Tuesday with my 11 year old--she had a cold. The first question I got on Tuesday when I called my office was, "Do you think it is that flu?" I explained that she had no fever--it was (IMO) just a cold or allergy thing.

Yesterday, I was back at work and about mid morning I started to feel a cold coming on. I warned them all that I thought I was catching my kid's cold, and I left at lunch.

This morning I call in--and I know I do sound bad because this cold is focused in my throat--and they get ALL kinds of freaked out. "Are you gonna go get tested?" "Are you SURE this isn't flu?" "Oh my gawd, you may not be back at work for at least a week!"

I have a cold. I have the snotties with a cough, and I do NOT have a fever. This is NOT a big deal, but sure as sin IF I had gone to work they would have all been freaked out by that too.

People are scared shitless of this stuff right now.

The one bright note in it all, my Doc's office called me this morning about a script I need to have refilled (completely not related to the snotties) and I asked them about the volume of calls they have been getting. The said it has been really low key for them, but that they are just kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Maybe not everyone has gone completely mad.
