Self deleting because I'm an idiot.

BoA is screwing me but not as badly or bizarrely as I thought they were. Tons of fees went up but not on everything. I'm so sorry! How'm I going to show my face here again.

14. 0 transactions, therefore they get 4% of that 0.

17. That's right. Just because one has a card doesn't mean one must necessarily use it.
That is, unless one has no choice.

But if you have paid off the balance, then do you really need to keep the card? Think of how good it would feel to throw it in their face -- "if those are your policies, then we have no more business to transact with one another".

4. All transactions! I expect fees for cash advances.
Edited on Thu Apr-30-09 04:44 PM by femmedem
I wish 4% of $0 were applicable, but I'm sure I'm going to need to use this card over the next couple of months. :(

5. Fuck that! I'd be taking my business elsewhere.
There is no damned justification for them taking 4% of every transaction.

Deposit your paycheck, they take 4%
Every withdrawal, they take 4%

They're basically announcing that they're taking 8% of your income whether you like it or not. There is no reason to put up with that. I'd be closing my account today.

6. I'll certainly be looking around. But I'm not exactly flooded with offers.
I'm glad to hear you're outraged, though. I was wondering if I'd lost perspective. This isn't normal now, is it?

10. No, it's not normal.

You can get a better deal from most other banks.

No bank is entitled to take a percentage of your income across the board. That would be a tax, and you only pay taxes to Uncle Sam.

Edit: from your post I'm assuming this for fees for checking account/savings account/credit card. When you say "All transactions" I'm assuming it means all transactions.

8. Not enough information
Is it a business credit card? Amex, which has different rules because it's a charge card? I recently paid one off (with BoA) and have received no such communications.

21. Well, I can't really work out the terms from your OP, it's too vague
Are you sure it doesn't refer to cash advances? That usually does include an upfront fee and I think they recently raised it to 4%.

12. Find a good credit union and put your money there. Much better bet IMO.
I finally had enough of BOA's frequent screw-ups and constant looking for ways to get a few pennies with fees for this or that.

I've had no reason to regret getting in a credit union. I might be disappointed in the long run but I don't think so. My chances with a credit union I believe are better than with BOA. BOA is insolvent I think and not likely to become solvent in the near future. The only thing keeping it afloat is Geithner.

16. I got it. Plus, they jacked up one card. But they are history.
The card that they jacked up the interest rate on? Paying it off when I get the statement.

The other two? Haven't used 'em in years. They're about gone too, and soon I will be credit card debt free. Really got in deep years ago, but it's just about gone, baby.

Gonna go out to a mighty fine dinner to celebrate soon. Probably three months. Then that's it.

I use a Diners Club card I pay off every month for about everything, and it works great for me. No interest, no revolving payments, and lots of convenience.

No more $$ from me, Bank of America. Gonna have to look elsewhere.

18. I paid them off and cancelled my card
They were very nasty for no reason. I always paid on time and paid more than the minimum. Screw them. They were always calling to sell me something for "no charge" then charge me and I have to call and cancel whatever it was I was to have for "free"

19. Tell them THANKS BUT NO THANKS!!!!!
Zero out your account and close it. BOA are the greedy
bastards that caused all of this friggin mess with AIG!! That
was the 2nd drop in the bucket. I am closing all my credit
cards and using a pre loaded debit card. I get the same
statements as ccards and I got no fuckin fees!!! I don't need
them or their money suckin programs. BOA lists 65% of their
profits yearly comes from FEES!!!
FUCK THEM. They can't even keep their grass cut on my local
BOA it looks like a house up for foreclosure. But them fuckin
CEO's got their fat checks right before they layed off 3500
people.

22. I'm greatly relieved that it wasn't as bad as it sounded!
I don't do any business with BoA, but the mere idea that they thought they could get away with 4% per transaction was pretty damned frightening!

(Based on everything I've heard, I'd DTMFA anyway)

24. Fuckers just halved my available credit.
For no reason.

Called them and they said, "you're a perfect customer, you just didn't use the full amount of credit we gave you".

Um yeah, because I wouldn't exactly be financially sound if I charged my cards to the max, now would I?

25. Being over 50% of the limit on a card hurts your credit score.
So they're asking you to hurt your credit.

And if they lowered your credit limit so that you are now close to the new limit then they are deliberately hurting your credit score.

That's just fucked up! :wtf:
