Edited on Thu Apr-30-09 11:07 PM by johnfunk
We've picked twelve candidates we like. You get to choose!

Take the highly unscientific poll HERE!

UPDATE: Maddow is beating ALL of the "big names" proffered by CBS and Reuters. Good!

6. Wardlaw would be a good choice, as would Sotomayor
I decided to put some well-known contenders with a few ringers and pols. Could have put 24 strong candidates up, but the limit is 12, alas...

16. Supreme Court
I know who Obama can pick, an honest to god Jurist. One who knows and understands the letter and the intent of the law. Someone with honesty, intelligence, integrity and ethics; someone who knows the crushing importance of making good decisions. Someone who isn't mean spirited or small minded, you know a jurist a real jurist. Not another partisan hack no matter the party, not someone with an ego trying to use the court for their own agenda, someone who loves the law and the tradition of the law in this country.

They say that David Souter, a dissenting opinion on Gore Vs. Bush (along with Stevens and Ginsberg) oft times cried over what the Supreme Court did in Dec. of 2000 and how their judgment mocked justice and the court, we need someone like that.

17. I'm not terribly thrilled about that list frankly
There's Maddow of course, but let's get real she has no shot. Sotomayor, Koh, and Sunstein are 54, which isn't too bad but I'd hoped for a bit younger, plus at first glance they don't really seem all that liberal. Bugliosi is 74 which rules him out immediately for me. Ditto for Dellinger, who turns 68 in a couple of weeks, and Tribe, also turning 68 this October. Kagan has no courtroom experience of any kind, which doesn't rule her out but leaves us with little to review. She seems maybe a tad too moderate to get excited about. Cuomo isn't bad, but I'd like to know what he thinks on a wider range of issues. I think someone would light the Senate on fire if we nominated Clinton, plus she's no spring chicken either.

That leaves Diane Wood. Love her legal opinions but she is 58 herself. At best we get a couple of decades from her before making way for someone else. I suspect she'll be the pick, I think Obama knows her fairly well already, but is this really the best we can do?

24. Freepers' heads would explode at the choice of anyone who didn't have
flat feet from goose-stepping in their basement. Which is almost everybody. Hillary Clinton would make their heads explode even more than Michelle Obama. Personally I think he should choose a black lesbian woman.
