TX Senate Passes Forced Ultrasound Bill
This is bad folks.

http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/politics/index.html

Planned Parenthood explains the horrible nature of this bill.

"(The) vote requiring mandatory ultrasound for every woman seeking a safe, legal abortion is a setback for public health. Planned Parenthood supports women receiving medical information they need so they can make private health care decisions. Planned Parenthood currently provides ultrasounds and the option to view the ultrasound image to clients seeking abortion. We oppose politicians telling doctors how to practice medicine and interfering directly in how health care is provided.

This bill is about politics, not good public policy. With no exception for victims of rape, incest or cases of tragic fetal anomalies, the bill seeks to shame women and make a difficult decision even more so.

Most Texans are concerned about their job security, healthcare and their children’s education. We hope the House will choose to focus on important issues that Texans care about rather than playing politics with women’s health. If the House does take up this bill, we hope they will reject this bad legislation."

3. Y'see, God ordained that Man would outrank Woman
Woman, after all, led Man into sin; we'd still be livin' in Eden if it weren't fer Eve. An' since this is a Christian nation, it is perfectly acceptable fer the law to hold that women belong to their menfolk, that is to say, to the state.

5. Wait until the lawsuits start.
Ultrasound is not without risks:

Studies on humans exposed to ultrasound have shown possible adverse effects, including premature ovulation, preterm labor or miscarriage, low birthweight, poorer condition at birth, dyslexia, delayed speech development, etc

11. I'm going to throw the bullshit flag on that one..
You're fear mongering just a tad.

The US Food and Drug Administration states on its website, "Although there is no evidence that these physical effects can harm the fetus, public health experts, clinicians and industry agree that casual exposure to ultrasound, especially during pregnancy, should be avoided."

Obviously, the FDA states that people shouldn't casually receive ultrasounds, but that is more boilerplate jargon that is included on every treatment.

14. No, I'm not fear mongering
I shared information I found and it was on a number of different sites on just one page of results.

But I certainly hope you feel better for having blown off steam.

15. well, it seems to me you're spreading fear among women
any possible risk associated with ultrasounds is far outweighed by the benefit of getting one.

17. And I didn't say any different
but we aren't talking about ultrasounds for medical reasons. We're talking about forced ultrasounds to try and coerce a woman not to have an abortion. Therefore, the risks are not necessary at all.
