Look out: Wingers recycle "Don't Tread On Me".
They obviously have a problem with thinking up new slogans, so they are recycling old ones. The tea bags were obvious, so now it's back the past with "Don't Tread on Me"

(I get winger email from an organization called "GOPUSA")

1. It's like watching a company keep struggling with failed advertising campaigns
"Joe the Plumber" didn't exactly catch fire

"Tea Bags" were fun for the faithful, but didn't exactly turn the masses against Obama

Now we'll try "Don't Tread on Me"... that won't work either.

I said in another post -- the only way they can move forward is to admit they have a problem. They need to admit they screwed up, take responsibility for the past eight years, and stop blaming others. They need to own the failures of Katrina, and admit that the war in Iraq didn't need to happen. That would put them somewhat in step with the American people, and that's the only way they can begin to rebuild credibility.

6. It's funny you should say that! There's an "About the Company" link at the bottom of the home page.
Go http://www.gopusa.com/">here and scroll to the bottom.

2. I take offense at that.
When the Republic party pushed forth a tyrannical agenda and trashed the Constitution, everything was peachy keen. Now that they are on the shit end of the stick, government is the problem.

I fly the Gadsden Flag as a warning to all tyrants, as our Revolution is still proceeding against those Tories that defend the positions of wealth and privilege against the common man.

where you walk. Not everyone carries a pooper-scooper.

It should be "Don't Tread In Me

4. So how are they interpreting this slogan to their ends? With no coherent strategy, it seems.
Here's a Google search for references to the Gadsden flag slogan on their site:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=%22don%27t+tread+on+me%22+site%3Agopusa.com&btnG=Search

http://www.gopusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52857">This contributor (Post #3) used the slogan to express unhappiness that Barack Obama is popular around the world, calling it "a huge positive for McCain and Palin" and claiming that "Americans do not like to be told how to run our business by people from other countries."

http://www.gopusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59402">Here (Post #5), it's directed at Somali pirates. No problem with that, I guess.

http://www.gopusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59447&page=2">Here's one of many reports of uses of the slogan at "tea parties" (Post #17).

http://www.gopusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19219&page=21">Here (Post 205), it's somehow tied to a plea to save Terri Schiavo.

http://www.gopusa.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-34125.html">Here, it's used in agreement with a call for all-out American imperialism, with a fond reference to the Roman Empire.

And finally, check this out! http://www.gopusa.com/theloft/wp-print.php?p=664">Here, it's used against John McCain!

You can't make a good deal with bad people (like McCain), no matter how lengthy the contract might be. Politicians, particularly those who have hijacked the Republican Party, are dishonorable people. We might as well vote for Democrats, because that is what we will get anyway. At least the GOP may get the message: "Don't tread on me!"
-- Cecil Elmore, Goose Creek, SC

There are many more uses of the slogan on the site, but there doesn't seem to be any clear consensus of what they've decided to claim it really means.
