Every single 'political' show is giving republicans a platform to rebuild.
Putting Republicans on their shows to explain 'what went wrong?', 'how can you fix the party?', etc.

Crazy shit and I'm getting tired of it because all the responses from these idiots are bullshit, but they are giving them all this time to sell themselves for 2010.

2. I think the very Republicans you mention, though, are not offering any
clarity or vision into their own problems.

Shrinks tend to assess this in terms like, "The patient exhibits minimal insight into his difficulties." There are some intelligent people in and around the Republican Party, but they direct their smarts at subversion and propaganda. Eric Cantor is certainly intelligent, but he is not leadership material for the Republicans because he doesn't see any political advantage in trying to snap them out of their stupor.

The components that they have to rely on for their base are the very components that brought them to the beat-up condition they're in. To reboot they are going to have to jettison the fundie nutbags and the hate radio talk hosts, just for starters.

Which means they are in electoral peril.

Which is real good for us.

3. who owns these shows?
The corporations that own all these shows have an agenda and they profit when Repukes allow corporations to do whatever they like.

from a story in 2003

7. Gonna need a lot of lipstick to cover that pig.
There is probably no "rebranding" that will actually fool semi-intelligent people but it WILL fool conservatives.

8. Of course! From a business perspective, you always have to have at least 2 teams
Granted, I'd love to see the GOP tossed to the scrap heap of history, alongside the Berlin Wall, McCarthyism and Clear Pepsi...

9. The gop will be tossed onto the scrap heap of history
and the dems will split into two parties, conservative dems and liberal dems.

The conservative dems won't have room or patience for the religous fundies who will splinter into their own little group.

At least, that's how I see it.

10. It's in their interest.
These shows are all about the fight. It's a battle of the spokesmen, and without two well-matched opponents, they have no show. They really have more in common with pro wrestling than with actual public-affairs programming.

Of course, they could try providing informative discussion and in-depth analysis, but that would be ratings death.

11. In late '04 and early '05 I don't think they allowed Democrats near a camera!
Kerry was certainly never given the airtime McCain has had.

Makes you wonder. . .
