Even in the midst of economic turmoil, impending plagues of animal induced influenza's, monsoons, blue moons, and republicans kicking it old school (looking for their next Reagan)..inquiring minds want to know..

What is you favorite way of connecting with your fellow human beings?? ..

Today's mood is such that I am leaning toward throwing knives ;)

Definitely need to get to a place where I can meet different people. Old ones are annoying.

9. I watched as well ....
I was reminded of a few things:

> Scorcese is an extraordinary master of film ...

> Daniel Day Lewis is a very gifted actor ...

> ANYBODY who thinks the 'good old days' were better has no idea WTF they are talking about .... (it is true overall)

Great movie ...

13. I think he said we become slaves to the inventions
that began with a gleam in the eyes of people long dead.
We (well, not me, of course) are addicted to the things
of communications but don't communicate. Or at least the
chatter to signal ratio is growing rapidly.

More people are communicating
faster & more often
in increasingly smaller bunches
of increasingly shortened words,
with less & less thought behind them,
and can't stop.

17. There is an experiment.. if you remove the vowels from a phrase
you can still read it.. That it is common understanding.. I wonder what it will be like for future generations when they try and decipher our writings.. I think about the letters that were read in the Ken Burns Civil Wars series.. how many of them were so complex, and how shortened we have become in our syntax.

GOOD POINT>

12. You forgot christmas cards
Or, actually, holiday cards. sometimes I still mail out cards while not having contact with them for years, even sometimes putting the dreaded "xmas letter" in the envelope as well. Not exactly personalized contact, but still contact of a sort.

i prefer telephone myself. It gives me instant gratification, rather than waiting for contact by email.

15. That is what I call snail mail.. and I do Christmas cards myself..
I know what you mean.. for some it is our one time a year catch up.. and I read those newsletters everyone sends.. I used to rail against them, but in the last few years, I realized it really is not so much bragging but a real way to catch everyone up.. so I learned to appreciate them in a way I never thought I would.

I find myself calling a LOT less than I used to..unless it is to set a date and time for everyone to meet at the restaurant ;)

14. You forgot
all the wacky venues where the creative artistic people hang out.

You'll find me hanging out in an art studio several days a week.

16. Yep that is true.. but I grab my artistic companions and head to the nearest
coffee shop.. something about coffee and conversation.. I can spend two hours in a coffee shop and it seem like 3 minutes.
