Media whores: Increased calls to investigate what Dems knew about torture.
MSNBC is talking about the hearings at 10 about torture and their headline was that there are increased calls to investigate what Democrats knew.

Hello? Why aren't you people talking about investigating TORTURE rather than the party, which had little political power at time, knew about it? I'm so damn sick of the "liberal" media being complicit in GOP tactics!

IF Dems knew something, which so far has not been established and in fact appears to be crap, then we'll deal with them. However, we need to deal with the Bush Admin's war crimes that we KNOW happened!

Stop letting them distract from their criminal conspiracy!

Stop letting them blame someone else for *maybe* knowing about their war crimes!

Instead of talking about what Pelosi knew, the Congress AND the press need to be talking about political hack lawyers directed by someone (who?) to twist the law to allow for torture. Talking about who ordered intelligence agencies to torture. Who authorized it? Who allowed it? Who approved it? Who carried it out? Who covered it up?

1. Sadly, a lot of DU'ers took the bait and are falling for the same garbage. Apparently Jon Stewart

4. I have no problem with that.
Right now, all they're talking about is Pelosi. How ridiculous is that?

5. The media is keeping it in the headlines and that's good
Plus, if Democrats knew and/or were complicit in some way I want to know. The truth is always preferable, no matter how disappointing it may be. And it isn't like we didn't have our suspicions about why Pelosi was so adamant about impeachment being off the table. Let's get it all out for everyone to see.

6. The investigation should be broad and non-partisan
There's no need to even start talking about party affiliation. Just throw the net wide and catch whoever has their hands dirty.

7. The Last Serenade Of The Mighty Wurlitzer...
Yes...the GOOP framing of this debate is obscene. No context or timeline is used in this discussion...a deliberate move by the rushpublicans to dirty Democrats just like a criminal enterprise tries to nullify any bystander.

What's more gaulling is that the corporate media takes the word of a memo the current DNI says has dubious sources. But it's good political hay to stir up ratings and "controversy". It creates strawmen and distractions from the main issue of the booosh regime's use of torture and to try to compromise others in hopes to turn the attention away from their crimes. And as we see here on DU, Pelosi makes a juicy target. For years the GOOP has tried to make something stick to her and now there are those on this side that think she's just as evil...surely Rove and the other GOOP spinners see this and are exploiting it.

Remember, our corporate media attempts to be "fair and balanced"...and their polls show 50% of people believe torture is justified. Shameful as that number is, it's not unlike the 60% who believed Iraq was tied into 9/11. As more evidence comes forward about the booosh regime's violations of law and decency, the bigger the drumbeat will be to investigate and the attitudes can and will change. I see this as a pre-emptive strike by cheney and his ilk and desperation as well as they know, as President Obama does, that more dirt is on the way...

11. If the people who are in power now
are in any way complicit (LIHOP or beyond) in torture, than yes, it needs to be investigated right along with everyone else involved.

Any investigation of a crime should cover the person committing it and all the accomplices. Everyone involved is part of that criminal conspiracy you referred to. If the accomplices are currently holding elected office, that's a major concern.

13. WTF?!!! WHAT ABOUT INVESTIGATING THE - TORTURERS - FIRST?!!!
Then, and only AFTER we have thoroughly INVESTIGATE and PROSECUTED the TORTURERS, and IF we don't have OTHER pressing business, can we even THINK of investigating "others"...

REPUKES: YOU LOST! WE get to set the AGENDA, now!

If the Dems fall for this, I will wash my hands of the party once and for all...!!!

Our so-called "leadership" better stand firm on this one...
