Camera modified into stun gun found at school
By Amber Hunt • Free Press staff writer • May 12, 2009
Updated at 5:33 p.m.

The device looks like nothing more than a disposable camera, but as Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel can attest, it's far more sinist
er.

The sheriff let out a yelp after shocking himself for reporters as he demonstrated how the camera — modified into a stun gun — can release a jolt.

"It hurts, I can tell you that," Hackel said today.

The makeshift stun gun was found Monday at Dakota High School in Macomb Township, where an 18-year-old student zapped willing friends as a joke. Word got to school administrators, who confronted the student and confiscated the device.

15. If I ever suffer the unimaginable horror of being shocked by a disposable camera...
... I hope they try the perpetrator as an adult.
:eyes:

Unless I do it to myself, in which case I blame society.

4. Oh Goodgrief.....
This is another example of some students idea of a fun project getting blown way out of proportion. When I was in high school way back in the early sixties, I and some of my buddies made a similar device out of parts salvaged from an old tv in electronics class. A filiment voltage transformer,Doorbell buzzer, and a couple of flashlight batteries. We put ours in a little wood box that would shock you if you picked it up off the table, and then marked it with "do not touch"...We got our share of victims that way.

5. Yeah, Police Won't Like It So Much
As more citizens discover we can get our hands on Tasers and other stun guns, too.

6. If it doesn't stun, it is not a stun gun.
It's a toy that emits an electrical discharge - a zap.

It's a zap gun.
