who cares who is in the white house
does anyone here truly believe that Obama will make a difference? Certainly he is light years away in intelligence and just plain decency from that arrogant alcoholic we had before, but we are already seeing reversals on promises and refusing to allow the photos to be shown is just another nail into the coffin of hope of many. Anyone who thinks that after eight years we are going to have a country shining on the hill as a beacon to the rest of the world should stick his head in the toilet and flush it. Dont misunderstand me, im sure that he will try to do somethings but the reality is that this country is run by two classes of people: those with money and the morons, like the rest of us, myself included, continue to play their game and dig ourselves deeper into the sewer. If Obama steps on too many large toes he will have an "accident" rest assured.
As for myself all i have to say is fuck the human race - if after 6000 yrs of recorded history we are still acting in the same way (this time with tanks instead of camels) then we deserve whatever is headed our way.
Vote? Never again. Absolutely no point in it.
I shall now sit back and wait for the inevitable inssults

1. Got a link to those promises?
I don't recall seeing any in this regard.

I want the photos released, but I don't recall any such promises.

My 'audacity" my "optimism" and My "Hope"is failing , trying really hard to not be to cynical but that seems to be the best way to view all of this....it seems to be heading into the same old politics as usual that I have seen for the last 50 years of watching this shit go on.. Got my hopes up this time and again am having them driven into the dirt.. At my age i should know better but am an eternal optimist.

"Already last week, Obama was coming under pressure to squelch the photos from senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), who wrote to Obama urging him to drop plans to release the photos. "

Excuse me...Lindsey graham a repug and lieberman a turncoat are causing pressure on him and he is folding?? Someone has got to be kidding here.

Yes. He already has. Example 1 above.

There is a difference between constructive legitimate criticism and hyperbolic nonsense. Your "it doesn't matter who's in the White House... never voting again!!!" rant? Way over the line into hyperbolic nonsense. Feel free to get ticked off about the things Obama is doing you don't like, but pretending he's not doing ANYTHING positive? Not making ANY difference? Please. That's so far removed from reality you'd need the Hubble to see it from reality.

12. In other words....
"History will prove you right"... regardless of current evidence that conclusively proves you wrong?

Hmmm, what prominent political figure in recent history have we heard that line from before? President something or other... just left office... name reminds you of shrubbery... damn, it's right on the top of my tongue.

5. He's been making the change slowly and surely.

If that's not good enough for you...fucking tough. Rapid revolutions cause chaos. Slow transition wins any day.

If you think President McCain would be the same then you're fucking delusional.

"I shall now sit back and wait for the inevitable inssults"...and I shall laugh at anyone who calls himself a historian and cannot spell nor punctuate worth a shit.

Insinuting my TS-ing or going to put me on ignore? If the latter then you should actually put me on ignore.

Because I highly doubt sticking up for the Democratic President on DU is going to do that...I still have faith in him to do the right thing eventually. He's pretty sly that way.

9. gosh it would be terrible if we insulted you, wouldn't it?
Harmless misanthrope that you are.

My candidate didn't get me everything I want, so Fu#% the human race! :argh:

Also, there's clearly no difference between a President who authorizes torture and another one who refuses to release pictures of the torture his predecessor engaged in.

16. I care. And I think he's already made a difference in many ways.
Doesn't mean I agree with all his decisions. I don't. And I strongly disagree with his decision on the photo release. And sorry, but any moron who ever thought this country is a "shining city on a hill", is hopeless. duh.

And please, 6,000 years is a fucking blink in time. Human nature hasn't changed, thus we are, to a large degree, condemned to repeat our mistakes.
