Hypothetical question regarding torture photos ...
... last I heard Obama only said he would block the release of more GOP-Abu Ghraib torture photos.

Once Obama puts this in writing, can Congress do something about it?

I guess my hypothetical question is if there are three co-equal branches of government, how can this Congress check this popular President and should they even try?

Okay, I guess there's more than one question ... which issues should Congress push back on? Should they ever try when the President is more popular?

1. Are you expecting congress to suddenly grow a spine?

2. It's their job.
They're supposed to represent us and we're supposed to petition them.

They'll grow a spine when we make it difficult for them to continue without one.

3. Okay, what about this ...
... back in the day Mike Gravel put the Pentagon Papers into the Congressional Record.

What if a Congress person did something like that?

Or, what if the photos were used during the torture hearings being conducted right now?

5. That's a good idea, if any of them has access to the photos,
could take them and bring them to the house floor from where ever they're on file, and was willing to do something that public.

But I imagine they are kept under lock and key.

4. In general I think the people should know it all.
Will it hurt service men? It has already done that. I am not sure Obama should do it this way but it will not hurt right now. They will end up out for us all to see one day. Just wait. Maybe the courts will do it.

6. Hiding these photos seems contrary to ...
... the way Obama has treated the America people regarding other issues.

The one huge difference between the Obama Administration and the one that preceded it is how the American people are no longer treated like children.

We deserve a better explanation for why these images are being kept secret.

7. Yes I think so also and they will get out. Will take a while.
It is not how I like to see him do this. Just put it out and be done with it. It may hurt service people more but I am still not so sure the hurt has not been done already. I feel a little iffy on that part of it also.
