someone explain this to me...
How exactly is the fact that all communications are intercepted, cell phone locations tracked, faces cataloged, associations mapped, etc; not unlike having King George's troops quartered in our homes?

1. The objection to the quarting act was not so much that soldiers were spying...
...on colonial households, but that their presence imposed a burden on that house hold. It was not only an intrusion into the family and a security risk for it, but a heavy-handed form of taxation.

Conceptually, ones face and radio communications are already out in public. The govt. is merely collecting information from the public domain and organizing it.

This is an answer to your question and not an attempt to justify the practice.

5. uh, the OP is the one that made the claim. It's incumbent upon him/her
to demonstrate that said claim is factually based. And what evidence is there that the claim is true? Answer that. Oh, and there has been no credible claim that I'm aware of that all communications are intercepted.

I'm all ears to hear why you challenged me instead of the person making the claim, the OP. This should be good.

3. Privacy Ends At The Water's Edge...
When you use a telephone, your call goes via wires and over the air (via "public" airwaves). Its out in the open for anyone with the technical know-how to intercept. Hell, I used to be able to hear cellphone and wireless telephone calls on my teevee. While one's privacy is supposedly protected under law, it's still out there and those who can fudge the grey areas will...or just stay undercover. I've never felt "safe" on a telephone...but also that if my conversations were of any interest to a third party, their life is in bad shape.

There's a difference between going outside and being snooped on or recognized vs. the 3 AM knock on the door by soldiers or the local police. Quartering is imposing on your space of privacy...your home or real estate. It's repression coming to you vs. you manuevering through it in the public square.
