Begala To Obama Re Torture: 'NO Avoiding The Issue-It Will NOT Go Away-Wishing It Away WON'T Work'
“He plainly does not want his agenda sidetracked by a long debate over torture — much less high-profile prosecutions,” said former Clinton aide Paul Begala. “And yet there is no avoiding the issue. It will not go away, and wishing it away won’t work.”

1. Obama is not avoiding the issue...
He is pulling the strings in the background while others are keeping the issue alive. That is his plan, in my opinion.

4. He's done nothing that would indicate this.

People speculate, and I wish to god it were so, but all of President Obama's actions and words point to a white wash. He wants to pretend it never happened and move on. To what, I don't know. We've lost our national honor, and the people who could help get it back are very unwilling to do so, so there's no where to fucking go from here but down the tubes. The U.S. is no better than all the degenerates that came before us.

2. The torture issue is NOT like Iran/Contra. There are picture out there,
and everyone knows there are more pictures not released, and many know there are videos being kept under wraps.

IMO, what Obama needs to do, if he wants to not be distracted from the recovery, is appoint a special prosecutor and let that office do its work while he focuses on the economy. That way he'll get it done but keep it from being politicized at the same time.

3. Hopefully, the cover-up will fail and the perpetrators, and collaborators, will be held accountable.
Unfortunately, the powers that be who initiated and/or acquiesced to torture are unlikely to indict or prosecute themselves.
