JAKARTA -- Indonesian opposition official Megawati Soekarnoputri will face a question about her sex life prior to the presidential election, an official says. Indonesian Doctors Association Chairman Fachmi Idris said IDI medical standards require all female electoral candidates to abstain from sexual relations for at least 10 days as part of the election process, The Jakarta Post reported Friday.

All candidates must undergo an examination by an IDI team of doctors to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming a possible presidential position. In addition, Idris said female candidates are asked to abstain from sex for at least 10 days prior to that examination in order to avoid what he termed biased medical results. The IDI official did not offer additional details regarding what results would be considered biased.

Soekarnoputri is expected to be the lone female candidate taking part in Indonesia's July 8 presidential election. Soekarnoputri currently serves as the chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.

The Post said all candidates are asked to only consume water while fasting for the day prior to the pre-election tests.

...what exactly does "abstain from sex" mean anyway? Being that Indonesia is a majority Muslim country, then I'd have to assume they mean heterosexual sex.
