I had seen a really interesting couple of posts on GD a month or so ago in which someone was talking about UFOs and it had quite a good response.

18. I agree. I don't know who did it, but when it came out it was all over the place.

I first saw it on my SGA site I used to hang at. A few people knew I was Haitian so they brought it to my attention. But I told them it was hoax. Most actually believed it to be real until someone produced a picture of where the ship came from and they just put it in. But most people were sold on it.

16. I used to see UFO's every single day.

They were oval shaped aircraft, with two protrusions on one end. Often colorful, some of them landed in trees close to where I lived. They stayed there, never bothering to come down to make their intentions known to the rest of us.

Wait, they may have been Mickey Mouse baloons released by Disneyland patrons, but I can't be sure.

with interesting results.

40% voted that "some UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin".

15 % were not sure if they are extraterrestrial or experimental craft.

27. I used to produce and edit digital video profesionally

and in my opinion it's a fake after a few glances. I could probably reproduce it exactly with the tools I have. The moving lights look very much like "keyframed" movement, and not very smoothly done either. I could have made the same video and had those lights dancing all over the place.

29. See that is one thing that bothers me about skeptics at times

not so much you old friend, I am talking principal here and you provided me a good place to rant.

James Randi and crew often use the same argument: I could do that (make a video, sounds on tape, etc and so on) as though they being able to do so means that the person submitting the evidence they have gathered did so.

I am always critical of evidence, even when it is against someone like bush I might add, and while I want to believe (ala fox mulder) I need further proof and don't just accept videos as proof - but on the same hand I don't dismiss them out of hand either because I am able to make fake ones.

As I have mentioned elsewhere I have captured evp's on tape (well, no physical tape, digital voice recorder) - and I set out to do so simply because I wanted to see if what other people were saying was really going on. Captured some really clear ones and some rather frightening ones - does not mean they are ghosts, but are pretty hard to explain. Some would say 'oh they are fake cause I can make fake ones and since they don't exist yours have to be fake' and people like that just won't ever climb out of the box they have built for themselves out of ignorance. Of course, they going out themselves for many hours trying to replicate my experiment won't happen - they won't disprove it occurs because they can't, and since they don't have an answer they claim it is fake.

Lastly, I have heard from some skeptics, even here, that they would put more credence in ufos if someone just had a clear video of them instead of the shaky, blurry, ones. someone produces one and they jump and call it staged/faked because it is too clear. They may well be right and it is fake, but to me dismissing something as fake because you don't believe is pretty silly - especially given the vast amount of people across the globe and throughout history who have claimed to see such craft (we would believe those same people if they said bush did something wrong probably though).

You only find proof if you look for it. And basing a search on millions of eye witnesses to me sounds like a good idea - whether it be ghosts or ufos. Ignoring all those witnesses because one does not want to believe is just dumb :)

Re the first two, I watch a lot of UFO clips and read extensively on the subject. I have never seen anything like the first two, where the object has other disks emerge from it or join in the line-up. I have, however, read of many reports of this type of thing happening.
