The class of Katrina
Edited on Sat May-16-09 01:01 PM by question everything
There was a report yesterday - don't remember which network - about the graduating class of Tulane University, students remembered how they fled during Katrina, and how they returned, even though many advised them not to.

And I was thinking that I wish obama addressed them, instead of facing those idiots in Arizona State or Notre Dame.

1. Obama did very well here.
And turned the snub into a brilliant speech and pwned the admins.

Not all of us in Arizona are idiots. Did you hear the cheers from the graduates as he spoke? Arizona is becoming purple. I think the next election cycle, many of the libertarian assholes calling themselves republicans will find themselves back in the private sector.

2. No offense intended
I just think that instead of having so many "protesters" and, yes, speaking eloquently that put them to shame, he could have just went to a place that would have welcomed him with open arms and, of course, demonstrated how he does remember New Orleans (and putting Jindal to shame, as a bonus).

3. There were very few protesters here.
The problem here was the so-called snub about the honorary degree and Crow's attempt to make nice by naming a scholarship for Obama instead.

Notre Dame of course does have many protesters. But, the students largely are thrilled that the President is coming and will welcome him. Those protesting are the same irrelevant people that always protest what we progressives value.

I agree with you that it would have been a great gesture to go to Tulane. Maybe Tulane didn't invite him. Isn't it up to the school to decide who the speakers will be?
