David Plouffe pimping for cash re "health care reform" - send more money?
got an email from that guy telling me how "swiftboaters" are at it again trying to sabotage and sink "real health care reform".

He says:
"The swiftboaters are once again trying to sell the American people short. As during the election, we deserve a serious conversation -- not fear-mongering and deceit. You and I see the importance of healthcare reform every day. We can't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to face one of America's greatest challenges head on."

Sorry there David, until I see emphasis on what's best for people and not best for corporations, no point in sending you more money. Congresspersons are already getting enough money - from their corporate masters. In another thread on DU recently turns out Max Baucus is already getting $1 million plus from the healthcare lobby.

Have a nice day and thanks for writing though.

8. The sheer insult & utter hypocracy of this solicitation aside, what the hell do they need money for?
Bribes for Congress?

Seriously, why does the White House need to solicit contributions to push their agenda? It's not enough to have the biggest bully pulpit in the country, you still have to fleece the gullible out of their hard-earned dollars? For what? It makes absolutely no sense to me.

9. According to this, the swiftboaters have $20M to spend on their
campaign to convince Americans they don't need healthcare reform.

And we know how 'bright' Americans can be.

12. If I'm going to donate money, it's going to be to organizations advocating for single payer, period.
And, frankly, I find the idea of trying to recruit people to fight for the right of insurance companies to dictate what kind of "reform" will make them happy dishonest and extremely distasteful.

11. Well, the big pharma and big insurance industries are planning to blanket the airwaves...
with swiftboat syle lies, fears, and smears...a 'la Harry and Louise. Would we care to offer a bit of counter-programing with truth?

10. Damn straight! Is this the "Change We Voted For"?!
Oh...wait a minute. I think it is.

If you thought President Obama would pursue single-payer out of the gate, you weren't paying attention to Candidate Obama.

But you go ahead and let your desire for the perfect be the enemy of the much better. Scumbag Swiftboater Rick Scott will be thrilled - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/10/AR2009051002243.html

14. Obama promised all views a seat at the table
He never once excepted the single payer view from that statement.

Single payer has no seat at the table, so it cannot even have a case made.

16. Maybe we should let it get Swiftboated and then, in a couple of decades, we might get another chance

17. If the People aren't pushing for single payer loud and clear, then what incentive is there for
the insurance companies to give ANY ground?

13. Exactly
as long as they are primarily doing the will of the lobbyists they may get their cash from them.

The average taxpayer has already had enough taken from them with the "bail out" and it's not over. What makes this suck harder is the banks and insurance companies are "donating" some of this cash back to our buddies in DC.

19. I'm replying "Single payer, universal, non-profit is the only option" to all their spams.
It gets you an automated response only, of course.
They keep asking for more money though. Tiresome!
