Gitmo vote shows DEMO. PARTY is CLOSE TO USELESS
The Republican Party is bordering on a vicious, lunatic fringe, but the Democratic Party is showing itself as close to useless.

In the words of Cenk Uygur: "For weeks now, Republicans have been talking about how we can't bring Guantanamo detainees to the US as if we'd be bringing them in for a picnic. They have pretended that bringing them to the US is the same thing as releasing them out in the middle of Kansas or Oklahoma (or right by Ground Zero as the dumbass Peter King suggested). We've talked about this on our show from time to time to mock them mercilessly, but I didn't bother writing about it because who would be dumb enough to believe this inane talking point? Well, now we have our answer. Almost the entire Senate.

They just voted 90-6 to say that the Obama administration cannot have the funds they need to close Gitmo and bring the detainees for trial here in the US."

Here are the only six Dems who voted with Obama: All six opponents of the proposal were Democrats: Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois, Tom Harkin of Iowa, Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Carl Levin of Michigan, and Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island.

2. I'm praying for a giant backlash. The floor of the senate was like a remake of Jonestown...
... senators wandering around like a bunch of zombies. "Did you drink the kookaid? Who else drank the koolaid? Did Smith and Jones drink it? Should I? What do your constituents think? I haven't talked to mine but I'm sure they think the same thing? What to do, what to do!

I hope the backlash is temporary for obvious reasons, but I hope it teaches them a big lesson and prompts them to get their backbones and gonads out of the closet and strap them securely on.

14. Speaking of Jonestown lets have a shoutout for the memory of rep. Ryan,
The first death in Jonestown. Also author of the Hughes_Ryan act the #1 most hated piece of legislation ever by the CIA. Spooky? Untrue? Coicidece? Thoery? All or none. Read! Also his cosponsor Church was targeted for defeat by the CIA and lost in 1980.

SORRY OFF TOPIC. AND ALSO IT WAS FLAVOR AID,THE REV JIMMY WAS OFF-BRAND!

4. Next time they justify staying in Iraq
by claiming "we broke it, we need to fix it," this needs to be shoved in their faces. Congress created this situation for the detainees, and they aren't willing to deal with the consequences - they think some other country should have to create a solution for them.

5. This is an indication that Obama will be another Carter....
A lot of promise, but a failure to lead. He's so into having compromises, that it will be his downfall, unless he realizes that he has to break with the spineless gang in time.

18. Wow...there are six sane Democrats in the Senate!
That's not much, but it's a start anyway. Maybe if we work really hard at it, in a few years we can have a majority.

19. Yep
That was a big 'Fuck You' Obama and a bow to the 'safeness' that Bushco gave us.

Why, just a few years ago the only controversy came from the far lefties who clamored for less war and all that other jazz. Life was so much simpler then for the dems in congress. Obama is making it hard for them and lord knows they hate that.

in this day and age? It's only there to make sure the people don't get what they need and the bosses continue to rule.

Civil War-era BS. Get rid of it.
