1. this is the crux of the problem with "pre-emptive self defense"
upon which the claim to torture is based.

If one nation claims the right to so-called "pre-emptive" self-defense (whatever that means), then all nations suddenly feel entitled to make the same claim.

The result, of course, is world war, as we've seen time and time again.

But self-destruction has never really been a problem for humanity, apparently.

They are fucking idiots. 9/11 and other terror attacks do not happen in a vacuum. I am not condoning terrorism in any sense - I find it completely abhorrent and wrong - but I also think it is foolish to not try to understand the real motives behind the attacks, and our financial and military imperialism are a huge part of that motivation. Torture and other hypocrisies just make it that much worse.
