OK Republibots and homophobes, how does Gay marriage affect YOU personally?
Don't tell me it's against God's will, I am a devout Christian, and God never said anything anywhere in the Bible about Gay marriage being wrong or that being Gay is against His teachings, so don't try that snow job. Just tell me, if you are so against Gay marriage, how would it affect you personally? Give me a logical answer or even a half-hearted attempt to help me understand why YOUR definition of love (and divorce and infidelity) is OK and Gay marriage isn't.

I'll be waiting!

(BOTH of the Republibots running for Governator in NJ are staunchly Anti-Choice and anti-Gay, BTW, and their snowball's chance of being elected is getting smaller by the day in spite of the hoopla by the press).

1. I can answer for you DB, as an exercise in empathy
gay marriage effects anti-gay marriage Americans the same way the death penalty effects anti-death penalty (or pro-life ) advocates -

the practice makes our society less civil, more decedent.

Peace and low stress bro - enjoy the weekend/holiday..

3. No, how does it affect them PERSONALLY , not philosophically.
Gay marriage does not make our society less civil or more decadent.

6. I know that I personally hate to live in a society that utilizes
capital punishment. It dehumanizes us all. It effects us all personally.

So the fact that gay marriage would allow a public servant to provide medical coverage to his/her partner effects us all in that our taxes go up in order to meet the needs afforded by equal rights. Right now that same sex couple would not be entitled to pay-payer subsidized benefits.

Perhaps not as personal as you would like, but it is the best I can do.

8. Why would you deny them that right, why shouldn't we deny straight couples that right?
They would be PAYING for their care just as we do so that answer doesn't wash.

9. Right now it is legal to discriminate against gays
so if you like smaller government and like discriminating against gays, then gay marriage is the opposite of what you want..

If they could deny straight couple that right I bet that they would...

4. I used to have thoughts about one of my cousins,
but we all got older and forgot about all that. There were some hot make-out sessions, though, for a couple of years at family reunions.

7. Those in power fear to lose that power and will restrict the rights of others for that reason.
It's not an excuse for their actions. Just an explanation.

10. I've never understood why they care so much.
Repugs and fundies treat GLBT people like super-villains. It's silly and juvenile.

13. Most probably don't care.
What they're doing is diversion. Always point to the Other to hate and fear, then the bottom feeders are too busy to hate and fear you. Oldest tactic in the power game.
