Conservative radio hosts gets waterboarded, and lasts six seconds before saying its torture
Edited on Fri May-22-09 02:05 PM by kpete
And so it went Friday morning when WLS radio host Erich "Mancow" Muller decided to subject himself to the controversial practice of waterboarding live on his show.

"I want to find out if it's torture," Mancow told his listeners Friday morning, adding that he hoped his on-air test would help prove that waterboarding did not, in fact, constitute torture.

............

It didn't turn out that way. "Mancow," in fact, lasted just six or seven seconds before crying foul. Apparently, the experience went pretty badly -- "Witnesses said Muller thrashed on the table, and even instantly threw the toy cow he was holding as his emergency tool to signify when he wanted the experiment to stop," according to NBC Chicago.

..............

"I wanted to prove it wasn't torture," Mancow said. "They cut off our heads, we put water on their face...I got voted to do this but I really thought 'I'm going to laugh this off.' "

The upshot? "It is way worse than I thought it would be, and that's no joke," Mancow told listeners. "It is such an odd feeling to have water poured down your nose with your head back...It was instantaneous...and I don't want to say this: absolutely torture."

11. It was about that long, give or take a second.
It may not be a valid test of who's toughest. Quite possibly Hitch's reflexes are just slowed up by years of martini abuse.

28. Hitchens didn't say how long, but he DID say it was an embarrassingly short session.
And that, like Mancow, he had gone into it thinking waterboarding was NOT torture.

42. For all we know, that may be typical. I wouldn't think it would take long for your
body to override your intellect and said, "Hell, no, we're bailing out of this 'experiment' and breathing!"

Points to the talk show host for not trying to weasel out of calling it torture after he'd actually experienced it.

23. That would perhaps explain why the Spanish Inquisition used waterboarding so often, hmmm?
Perhaps that would also explain why the Chinese used it so much.

And perhaps that would explain why America EXECUTED Japanese officers who used it on US troops.

Waterboarding is in fact TORTURE.

TORTURE is in fact a CRIME.

It's what EVIL-DOERS do.

Conservatives are apparently completely incapable of putting themselves in another person's shoes-- it's amazing to me. I don't have to experience waterboarding to know it's torture. The description is quite sufficient. But Conservatives just shrug it off as nothing *until they experience it themselves*.

What the hell is wrong with these people? I've seen the same personality trait come out on so many different subjects. For instance, I knew a conservative woman who bitched constantly about paying for Social Security and things like Medicare, but she was the first on in line when it came her turn to collect-- and the benefits are never enough. Now she says it's not enough, it's so unfair, etc., etc.

40. Hey Sean and Rush
If it is not torture and you know it is a test and you won't die, then you should be able to go an hour if the only way for you to stop it is to say it IS torture. I would think the meaning of torture is an act that would make you tell the person something that you are unwilling to say under any condition other than TORTURE.

53. Right wing radio mouth pieces are all well and good
I want to see each and everyone of the Bush Administration who justified this with the term "Enhanced Interrogation Technique" get waterboarded on National Television.

If they said 'EIT' in public, they get water up the nose along with a camera and a microphone to state for the American people (and the whole world) that waterboarding is not torture.

Start out with Dick Cheney and follow on with the rest.

Condoleezza Rice
Don Rumsfeld

41. This is exactly why Hannity won't do it.
He knows it is torture, and he can't afford to weaken his extreme right wing position on torture. He is paid well to espouse the fascist line, and 6 seconds of water torture would force him to tell the truth.
