RNC Ad Compares Pelosi to Pussy Galore — Time For Women to Exit the GOP?
By: Jane Hamsher Saturday May 23, 2009 12:34 pm

Yeah, I know. The GOP stereotype of a bunch of sniggering frat boys pointing their fingers and screaming "boobies" is rarely unfair. The fact that the Republican party leadership (such as it is) has no better strategy than provoking feminist outrage to delight its drooling extremist base puts its limitations on full display.

A Drudge headline this week indicates the method to their madness:

Blue collar males lose more ground; unemployment rate surges past national average...

Blame the betties for the lost jobs, we're the new Mexicans. Nancy Pelosi is a stand in for us all. It's reliable lizard brain trope.

snip//

I'm not a statistics expert by any means but in the last election, women cast 53% of the Presidential vote. Obama got 56% of the female vote, while McCain drew 43%.

Congressional Republican have a five percent approval rating among women. You'd have to look up to see Dick Cheney from there. Math wizardry isn't required to figure out that if the Republican Party has a 78% disapproval rating among women, up from 64% at the beginning of the year, they are not on a good trajectory for winning national elections in the future.

Women don't even have to like Nancy Pelosi to recoil from the people lobbing this kind of stuff at a 69 year-old grandmother.

1. Anyone have a link to the ad? I want to use it at another debate site
to continue a general attack on the GOP.

4. Really! I didn't bother to even look at it, but there was one
principled rethug who was outraged. Do they even think before they do stuff like this?

7. Well it was certainly generating a lot of negative press
I am sure that's not what the RNC wants right now

11. Beyond the sexist under tones of the ad
I am finding it hard to understand the RNC idea that spy agency's honesty is above question. You have an organization that uses lies and deception as their SOP, and suddenly we are suppose to think that they are beyond lying.

14. It's not really what they think as witnessed by countless
articles that have dug up previous quotes, from Boehner, Hoekstra, Gingrich, etc., all claiming the CIA lied at different times, depending on the cause they were championing. Disingenuous at best.

of the RNC

17. Yep, these were the folks that were OUTRAGED when no WMD's were found!
All we heard was a constant drumbeat "The CIA gave the President bad information.." So in those days the CIA was bad. Now they are shining heroes.

And, of course, remember when Valerie Plame was outed. She was working on the real WMDs in the world with loose nukes and "Oh, that's okay. She was just a secretary at the CIA anyway" was their shrugged response. REEALLY???

16. If the Log Cabinettes aren't leaving
I'm guessing that there will be a large group of GOP women who will stay, despite being demeaned and belittled by the party.

The GOP is already down to its nutcase core. Common sense would tell you the gays and any woman should leave, but these aren't people who are operating from any semblance of common sense.

18. When Conservatives get "creative"...
they invariable manage to be both unoriginal and un-amusing, often with an added dose of completely disgusting.

Three out of three with a bullet here.

Edited on Mon May-25-09 12:42 PM by Marr
I've seen multiple complaints about that ad for the "Pussy Galore" thing, but nothing about the fact that it depicts Pelosi through the barrel of a frigging gun, and it's punctuated with the sound of the gun being fired.
