U.S. Monthly Spending in Iraq - $12 billion in 2008

Second - $5,000 in 2008 (per Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on May 5, 2008)

4. What are the additional costs to have a soldier in Iraq compared to Fort Hood?
Edited on Wed May-27-09 07:06 AM by ThomWV
I don't see why it is any more expensive to have a soldier in one place than another. Is it the additional cost of increased operation of equipment or is it the increased cost of expended ammunition, something else?

5. Could it be the cost of all those private-sector contractors (mercenaries) to support the soldier
and rebuild all that systematically-destroyed infrastructure?

6. I'd say It was mostly transportation

The cost of moving that soldier, the equipment, food, shelter, vehicles, fuel, armaments and water.

Imagine creating SEVERAL 10,000+ population cities in the middle of a desert. The costs are staggering.

AND, a lot of the costs are because of outsourced corporations such as KBR, who tack on MILLIONS of charges for very little reason other than to make profit.

7. Soldier's (E4, with family) pay for one year in Iraq = $43,000
That includes combat and hazard duty pay. This was in 2005-06. Where's the rest of it?

:grr:
