So I go to the doctor about my sore elbow . . .
He asks when I first noticed the pain. I says it was August of 1969. He looks at me funny so I explain that I was in riot control training at Ft Lee, Virginia. Held an M-14 with fixed bayonet in the front thrust and parry position for 10 hours a day seven days a week preparing to attend the Vietnam Moratorium in D.C. 500,000 protesters in the streets to match the 500,000 soldiers in Vietnam. It was a strange time to be in the Army. Armed military walking the streets of our nation's capital like it was some third world banana republic. Was diagnosed with bursitis in the right shoulder and they ignored the left elbow.

Anyway, it's tennis elbow, aka tendinitis. I've had it off and on for all these years. It just recently got bad enough to be incapacitating. If you google Vietnam Moratorium and look for images you'll probably see me. I'm the one wearing green.

1. This thing works great
I used to play tennis 20-25 days in a row as a hitting partner for a pro, this is one of the few straps that actually works.

3. Thanks, I'll have to try that strap. Like I said, I've been carrying
this around for 40 years. The price is right and it sure can't hurt.

4. Oh, YOU'RE the one!
People used to come into my Dad's business and say "Hi, I'm the one who called." He'd say "Oooohhhh, YOU'RE the one."

7. All things considered I'm okay. Man it was a strange time, wasn't it?
We'd all load up in our deuce-n-a-halfs and head up the freeway to D.C. On the way we'd pass the VW micro-bus with flowers painted on it and we'd exchange peace sighs and wave. Then for four days we'd be mortal enemies with us and our tear gas against the occasional rock or bottle from the really radical types. Then we'd climb back into the deuce-n-a-half and head back down to Virginia again flashing peace signs and waving to the hippies with big smiles.

Reminded me of the Road Runner cartoon where they both clock in and for eight hours chase/escape each other and then clock out.

That was the most well organized event in D.C. history. You guys had your own security, traffic control and medical aid. As I recall there were no outbreaks of violence to speak of. Can't say the same for the Park Police. Those bastards were just plain out for trouble.
