If you're going to attack Obama then why not post his FULL QUOTE and provide some context
for his remarks?

Posting three quarters of Obama's sentence, and leaving off the end is dishonest.

Removing the context of the remarks is also dishonest, though less obviously so.

3. If you are going to defend him, then why don't you?
From reading DU tonight, all I know is that some people are outraged about something Obama said and others are outraged at the outrage.

4. It gives some an outlet for otherwise justified anger.
When nerves are raw, people tend to be more quick to find insult, even where none was intended.

Oh yeah, there weren't any.

12. I'm asking in the wrong place..
I read something at Kos, about some such thing, but it makes no sense that he would do that during the campaign..I thought it might be something from before he was a candidate. Sorry.

16. Ouch. How many ways could that campaign have fucked up?
:banghead:

I love the Dan Savage quote about http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2009/03/06/rank_incompetence">whether Steve Smith should have used the letter: "YEAH, THAT MIGHT'VE BEEN A GOOD FUCKING IDEA, YOU STUPID ASSHOLE."

I may switch over just to ask Dan Savage to marry me.

19. It was considered.
Right or wrong, it was thought that it would be difficult to counter the robocalls that used Obama's own voice and words. The letter was good but having an actor read it aloud might not not have the same impact.

20. I would've loved to hear him talk about that in Beverly Hills the other day. But he didn't.
Yeah a citizen committee that few people had any say in fucked up. But that doesn't give Obama the leeway to be a political opportunist and duck the issue for the rest of his presidency. He could've defended us. But he didn't and he never will again until next election rolls around.

22. Ok, so Obama didn't know.
Fair enough.

It was apparently an Armenian interests group. Not even the LGBT that we all assumed it to be. I feel dumb now. Oops.

So... I'll assume that Obama will know soon, if not already. He liked the demand that he keep his promises to recognize a Turkish act of genocide against the Armenians... so we should all expect him to make a statement on the subject and apologize... and "keep his promise"?

Maybe he should add some language about how we should "look forward, not back" when he calls the Turks on genocide? It seems to have worked here in the States semi-well when addressing the issue of torture. Then they can all have a toast of radka (sp?) and move on... and the Armenians can feel cheated... and like it.

Problem solved...
