Pay to talk to an American in customer service...
Tonight one of my customers told me that he called a major computer manufacturer whose support is known to be in an Indian call center where they read scripts to you and are very polite but don't solve your problem. Well, they offered him the option of paying to talk to an American instead.

yeah, that's going to go over real well!

4. Let me get this straight -
it's late at night here, and the opiates and smoke are kicking in.

If I want customer service to speak English as a first language, I have to pay extra.

For no charge, though, I can talk to someone in India who probably has a very good heart but will eventually get sick of hearing me say, "I'm sorry, I didn't understand what you said. Can you say it again, very slowly?"

Right?

No, that's not a good idea, not a good idea at all.

Somewhere, there's a genius congratulating himself for coming up with such a cutting-edge idea ............................

5. You used to be able to press 2 for Spanish and get an American- then the Punjabis learned Spanish

They were quick to fix that loophole. You'd press 2 for Spanish, and get someone in Texas. Now you get a bilingual Indian.

6. SERIES???
In India, the help center people are speaking SPANISH?

I wonder if it's as impossible to understand as the English.

This shouldn't be so complicated..............................

7. Yep. I used to do it all the time. Here's how it worked
I'd call Credit Card Company, press 2 for Spanish, and when they came on with Spanish greeting I would say, "I'm sorry, I must have pressed the wrong button." The American would switch to English and say, "I can help you." Then one day, I did this, and the Spanish speaking person said the same thing with the Indian accent. I don't know enough Spanish to know if they spoke Spanish with as heavy an accent as they speak English. In truth, they often speak perfect English, just heavily accented.
