I am currently looking for stories about US government treatment of the press in the
United States such as imprisonment and information supression as well as intimidation and abuse. I have a short window I'm working with and I plan to send it Diane Sawyer. Anyone who would like to help, post your examples in this thread. Thank you.

9. John Pilger's films, critical of US policy in Latin America are banned here
Edited on Fri May-29-09 10:46 AM by EFerrari
I don't have a source but it should be easy to find. The only way we can see his work is on line or if we buy the DVD

Eta: Here's an overview of his work. Interesting, he was formally banned from South Africa in 67 for his apartheid reporting. His banning here is unofficial but the test is, can anyone find an instance of his work being aired? Not that I know of

Also, didn't Bush/Cheney threaten the New York Times with prosecution if they ran the illegal wiretap story? I think they did

FBI Targeted Freelance Journalist Covering FTAA Miami Talks
Newly-released documents reveal that the FBI spied on freelance journalist David Lippman as he was covering the Free Trade Area of the Americas summit in Miami in 2003. The documents indicate Lippman was under surveillance for being a “known protestor w/history.” The American Civil Liberties Union is filing a lawsuit on his behalf.
