WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he will use next week's speech in Egypt as an effort to improve the United States' image in the Muslim world.
Obama said Thursday that he plans to discuss his country's outreach to Muslims around the world and contributions of Muslims in the United States. Obama says he would discuss the broader need for peace in the Middle East and common understanding among nations.
Obama says the new approach requires both sides to recognize the potential for improved relations.
The president plans to deliver the speech next Thursday in Cairo.
