3. I agree
As a Justice, I thought he was consistent in his opinions and the manner in which he read and applied the Constitution. He wasn't a spotlight hound and called it like he saw it. I agreed with him a lot, disagreed with him some, but he always voted based on how he saw the Constitution which is all you can ask for in a Supreme Court Justice.

4. He also happened to provide us with a very, very pleasant surprise
when he did start voting. As far as I'm concerned, he almost always voted with the good guys. And not many of us saw that coming. He was the Susan Boyle of Justice.

6. I know he was a good guy because he waited until Bush left.

13. Don't forget that during the Bush reign of terror, Souter was attacked while out for his jog. I was
always suspiscious of that incident and wondered if he was being sent a "message"....In any event, he hung in there.....

Thank God is right.

7. Hopefully, we will get a chance to nominate another Justice next year!

If Ruth Bader Ginsburg wants to step down, she has 3 years to do so..............I am sure she wouldn't retire with a Republican in the WH.

8. Judge Ginsberg's cancer will "retire" her sooner than later.
The five year survival for pancreatic cancer is below 5%. I hate to lose her that way, but her health prospects are not good.

12. Not to mention Stevens.
Anyone who thinks they might not make it through a second term should leave now. Just in case.

9. Add me to that list. I appreciate Justice Souter's patience in waiting until
Dumbya and Rove left office.

Thank you for your service, Justice Souter!
