Those who have purchased and installed Digital TV converter boxes...
Need to rescan the channels (from the converter box menu) today, and again over the next week. Not only have many stations moved into their final broadcast slots, but many local stations were not broadcasting the digital signal at full strength and will be picked-up post transition.

So, stations you used to get on the converter might be "missing", stations you should have gotten before might just now (and through the weekend) be showing up.

I just re-scanned mine (two minutes I'll NEVER get back, dammit), found nine new stations and that all of the local network stations had shifted.

Good luck!

1. I don't care if any commercial stations have moved; I never
watch them anyway, but my converter box stops working whenever any station makes a change. I've re-scanned 3 times already since January (which is just about each time I've turned the TV on)and will have to do it again. What an annoyance for something I hardly use and which should be there when I need it in an emergency. But Bush needed the $200 billion to pay for his tax cut to the rich.

6. The bandwidth that analog stations occupied until tonight
was auctioned off about 3 years ago for $200 billion to Verizon and other communication companies for use in new wireless devices. This occurred at the same time that Bush could have used the money to straighten out Social Security, but instead gave a tax cut to high income taxpayers. Where were you?

2. Nope. Lost one (ABC) I could get before.
Tomorrow I get to crawl on the rooftop to replace our rooftop antenna, since the max strength amplifier and rabbit ears antenna (with a UFH disc) combined don't pick up didley squat despite being in an area where I'm supposed to be able to receive every station I had on analog and them some with only a set top antenna without an antenna.

Finally hooked up the second TV - absolutely zero channels on that one.

Darn. I was hoping the boosted strength might give me enough stations I that I wouldn't feel deprived - but Jesus TV (in multiple languages, for multiple ages) doesn't do it for me. Oh - I did get two more Jesus channels.

3. My former Channel 2 is now 74.1.
Damn, that's daunting.

7. My post midnight scan found NBC
Now I'm almost happy - all they have to do is put Leno back where he belongs and leave the 10 PM shows alone. Although I wouldn't mind finding the other "biggies"

8. Funny you should mention it, but one of our (DC) network stations is off the air.
It's beyond ironic that we should be chastised for not "getting with the program" when one of the big three can't manage to make the switch without problems. Especially since they've been broadcasting in digital for over a year already.

Hate to be working tech support for that station today.

9. My kiddos bought me a converter
Edited on Sat Jun-13-09 06:01 PM by laylah
box, tried to install it while they were here, to no avail. I tried again yesterday only to realize when I returned the ex-bf's "stuff" to Direct TV (who also took money out of MY account when having no direct access to that info...EVER), I also shipped the control for the converter. They won't give it back

edited to add the converter control

10. Just rescanned. Found a few new stations.
Some of the existing stations moved around, so I rescanned so I can pick them up again, when I discovered those new stations.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of them are bible-thumper stations playing Jesus cartoons. :wtf: :puke:
