Fall to Your Knees for Bigotry:
On July 5, the FRC hopes to have thousands of congregations fall to their knees to pray for victory over the evil abortionists and queers. What about feeding the hungry?

On Sunday, July 5, the Family Research Council hopes to have 40,000 churches across the country participating in its latest PR scheme the “Call 2 Fall.”

FRC president Tony Perkins says the day is set aside for Christians to “fall on their knees” in prayer for the country:

Observances can take several forms, Perkins said, from a three- to five-minute period during a worship service when people would get on their knees and pray to a full day of praying and expressing dependence on God.

snip

Lou Engle, in a blog post at “Call 2 Fall” sums up the error in a post rife with 9/11 references:

And now something far worse than the twin towers is upon us and we are more than a day late in “Keeping Guard”. The twin pillars of righteousness and justice – the issue of life (abortion) and the definition of marriage, are experiencing an all out collapse far greater than the collapse of those twin towers. There is no alternative to be found. The building is crashing. There is no political help. No economic help. Only one remedy remains. We must hear The Call to Fall.

13. Last week a right winger was praying for the President to die
Edited on Mon Jun-15-09 05:57 AM by get the red out
I haven't heard about any lefties praying for anyone to die.

Right-wing religion has been owned and operated by the Republican Party for years. And the Republican Party is owned and operated by the corporate biggies. So this isn't religion, this is politics.

The people duped by this stupidity are really praying to their corporate masters. These people revere Ronald Reagan more than they do Jesus Christ. Political worship. If you are worshipping in a right wing church good luck with getting your prayers answered by Wall Street.

14. see above
I think there is an equivalence between 'wishing' and 'praying' although my desk dictionary does not make one a synonym of the other. They both are synonyms of 'request'.

8. Call 2 Fail
July 6 will be exactly the same as July 5, with the God-bothering pinchbritches losing just as hard. They'll have to claim some sort of miraculous signage, so maybe God will move everything in the universe one inch to the right that day, just for them.

11. The entire religious Reich WIng
behaves as if abortion suddenly became legal after President Obama's inauguration. Has anyone else noticed this?
