AP...are riot police standing down?

The crowd - many wearing the trademark green color of Mousavi's campaign - was headed toward the capital's huge Freedom Square in the largest display of opposition unity since Friday's elections ended with Mousavi claiming widespread fraud.

There was no sign of violence or challenges from security forces. Anti-riot stood by with their helmets off and shields at their sides. '

2. You're kidding me, right?
We may actually have a fairly peaceful revolution in Iran?

I thought I'd never see the day.

Fingers crossed...

3. Apparently - the protestors were chanting "Thank You Police" at one point
I wonder if the Ayatollah's are re-thinking the election, now that they see their populace is enraged? They have to think that their own position in power could be in jeopardy if this plays out much longer.

5. The only way they can legitimize things now is for Rafsanjani to call for a vote
in the Assembly of Experts to oust Khamene'i as Supreme Leader and put somebody else in.

6. I think Rafsanjani represents the worst political trend in Iran.
He'd eliminate the few economic gains from the revolution, like public ownership, while still maintaining the worst aspects of the Islamic Republic.

7. Right now, he holds the most power in Iran
Khamene'i has lost all control and it's obvious to the Ayatollahs

Grand Ayatollah Saane'i was a part of the anti-Ahmadi-nejad protest this morning.

Rafsanjani is the Chairman of the Assembly of Experts and he has to now the only way for the Islamic Revolution to maintain any modicum of control is to oust Khamene'i, do a real count fo the votes or a revote, and allow Ahmadi-nejad to be ousted.

4. Wouldn't that be great? Maybe the police also voted for Mousavi
and are having a hard time beating up on their fellow citizens.

8. I wonder if anyone was chanting "We want Mossadegh!"
Ya, I know he's dead, but he's the only leader who gave a damn about improving life for the people of Iran.
