Pro-Life Vegetarians???

I wonder what the percentage of people who identify themselves as "pro-life" would also identify themselves as vegetarians.

I wonder how that would compare the percentage of admittedly pro-choice vegetarians?

Surely there is a poll where such information can be compared. Does anybody know???

It's a right-wing, spin tool and it's time we stopped feeding into their vernacular.

I'm a pro-choice Vegetarian and I am also pro-life (and anti-killing for that matter). I'm assuming there are probably some anti-choice vegetarians as well.

I can't say that I've ever met an anti-choice veg*n. Matter of fact, I don't think I know a single vegan who isn't also rabidly both pro-women's and pro-GLBT rights.

But on the surface,l because of their professed reverence for "life," a "pro-life" or "anti-choice" person would seem to be more like to be vegetarian than someone who is "pro-choice." (Or whatever designations you wish to use.)

The opposite seems to be the case in fact however.

There are plenty of vegetarians/vegans that choose to be so for health reasons rather than animal rights, so there is room for many to be anti-choice without being hypocritical.

6. I belong to the Christian Vegetarian Association,

which includes veggies from across the Christian spectrum. I'm UCC, and so is the founder of CVA, but there are a lot of CVA members who are Evangelical and pro-life. I kind of admire them for being consistent. They often complain about how little support they get from their own churches. But then, so do I.

12. Pro-life and pro-choice are NOT mutually exclusive! I'm a vegetarian.

I'm pro-life. I believe in preserving all life forms (including humans from zygote to fetus) with a few exceptions for parasites and disease carrying insects, but that is a self-preservation decision. I also believe in a woman's right to choose medical decisions about her own body. These ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE BELIEFS! Reducing abortions by reducing unwanted pregnancies is the PRIMARY means to reach this goal. Providing support, prenatal care and adoption paths for those who continue with an unwanted pregnancy is also essential. But if a female decides to terminate a pregnancy, she MUST have a SAFE and legal means to do so. There is no contradiction with being pro-choice and being pro-life. There is no such thing as being "PRO-ABORTION".

Outlawing abortion won't reduce the number of abortions. It will only increase the number of women who die or become sterile because of their visits to Joe the Hangerman (Joe the Plumber's brother).

scarce as hen's teeth. There are a few, mostly found among Catholics. But very few. You should have seen the looks on their faces the Saturday after Poopy Bush invaded Iraq, and I started quoting Scripture at them: 'Blessed are the peacemakers..." :P
