How does David Letterman help us Democrats?
Anyone know? Or, Jay Leno, for that matter.

How do these "dust ups" do anything but increase ratings for a TEE VEE SHOW?

Why would folks here get involved in PROMOTING a MSM Entertainment Site?

Do you get "paid by post?" :eyes:

3. You're on the wrong installment plan
I'm paid by the word, and I get double the rate if I work in a clever limerick.

One thing that bothers me is that Skinner has never actually revealed what the per-word rate is. I'll need to check in with him...

4. Dave's a Dem in spirit and intellect...
He should be in the history books for "Great Moments in Pesidential Speeches" alone! Absolutely devestating to Bush!

16. There was "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches"
and during Bush's first term he often played the clip of George-boy cleaning his glasses on Dave's assistant's shirt.

I remember the night after that incident happened, Letterman was talking about Bush and said "I looked into his eyes and thought 'My God, you could hold dances in there.'"

Right before the 2004 election, after showing something stupid Bush did, he laughed and said "Aw, I'm gonna miss him." - But many comedians felt that way.

6. one of my goals is to get Letterman to tell a joke about CouchSurfing.org
Other than that, i don't know and don't much care.

i don't watch a lot of TV.

Dave should also tell the joke about Palin charging rape victims for evidence kits when she was Mayor of Walisa.

now that's funny. Not.

11. How so? Did he get into the 2000 and 2004 Stolen Elections? Did he raise
questions? Did folks really feel that he "exposed McCain?" What did he do for Obama or Clinton? or any Dem Candidate?

15. No kidding.
And he rode Bush pretty hard for many years. Like most TV people. Face it, Letterman and many others in media helped last November. It's OK to admit that MSM wanted Barack Obama to be president. So did we. They are voters too.

That's why his apology is coming today, he wants to ruin Conan numbers for week 2 as well. Bastard.

Conan's got to see where the land lies and tweak his own show as time goes on.

They're entertainers. If you make them out to be anything more than that, then that's your problem.

24. TV "comedians" ask the toughest questions
Edited on Tue Jun-16-09 07:22 PM by SoCalDem
They "get away" with it, because they are perceived as jokesters, light-weights, etc. They are NOT!. The good ones are college educated, well-read, and usually left-leaning.

They do not back down from or bow down to politicians. they put politicians on the spot, and many pols stay away from their show for that reason. The cocky ones go on, thinking they can outsmart them...and fail miserably.

The toughest interview GWB had, duing his first campaign, was on Dave's show. The "media" tippy-toed around the hard stff, and delighted in being given nicknames. Dave put him on the spot and he squirmed like a 4 yr old who had to go potty.
