Five years ago, Ensign took to the floor of the Senate and said this:
Marriage recognizes the ideal of a father and mother living together to raise their children. Marriage is the cornerstone on which our society was founded. For those who say that the Constitution is so sacred that we cannot or should not adopt the Federal Marriage Amendment, I would simply point out that marriage, and the sanctity of that institution, predates the American Constitution and the founding of our nation. Marriage, as a social institution, predates every other institution on which ordered society in America has relied.

Hey John, where does the other woman fit in to this?

Asshole!

1. Maybe he wants a truly "old-fashioned" marriage...
You know, between one man and one woman and one woman and one woman and one woman and...

7. Are you suggesting that's due to his hypocritical words, or do you know something about
the sexual health of his paramour and the practices they indulged in?

if the latter, TMI, TMI!!!!

6. I'm not defending him, but I read somewhere that
he did it during a period when he had separated from his wife. That's not an excuse, but it doesn't seem as crass as having an affair while still married to a dying wife, etc.

Hate to say it, but I think he did the only thing he could do in the situation, which was to just come out and admit it so that he wouldn't be compromised any further. There are others who make the pay off and become more corrupt. I give him credit for that.

8. Marriage is marriage is marriage is marriage. There are no gray areas with these
GOP assholes who wrap themselves in flags, stick crucifixes up their asses, and marriagize America to death. He has no right talking/voting the way he does as an elected official and cheating on his wife.

No excuse is applicable for him. He allows none for anyone else. Remember how he voted to impeach Clinton for sex?

19. Actually, I just found out that the woman he had
the affair with was also married and that her husband was on some staff of his or whatever. LOL

I take it all back. That's about as bad as it gets. He's in deep doo.

10. Eleven years ago, he had this to say:
In 1998, while running for Nevada’s Senate seat against Harry Reid, Ensign called on President Clinton to resign in light of his admitted affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky:

“I came to that conclusion recently, and frankly it’s because of what he put his whole Cabinet through and what he has put the country through,” Ensign said Thursday, becoming the first member of the Nevada delegation to call for Clinton to quit. “He has no credibility left.”

21. Little wonder then that the Republicans are always angry, fearful, confused and in trouble.
There are just too damn many corners in this Republic. To them, it must be like living in an MC Escher painting (or a funhouse). No matter which way they twist or turn, they end up backing, painting or talking themselves into a corner.
