We should not get involved militarily, but we should be talking about how unfair these practices are.

Studies on authority and conformity have found that if someone is a victim of destructive authority or conformity that the simple knowledge that other peer groups or authority figures disagree with what is happening is a massive morale booster.

For example Stanley Milgram did the obedience to authority experiments involving getting people to torture someone until they pass out because an authority figure told them too.

He conducted about 2 dozen variations of the study. What he found was that when peer groups and authority figures agreed with the injustice, about 80% of people tortured til the end. But when there were contradictory authority figures or peer groups rebelled then compliance dropped to 10-50%.

The simple fact that the government and public in other countries are saying 'this is wrong' is a huge morale boost. Imagine what may have happened if the EU or Canada had refused to recognize Bush's 2004 election until a real recount was done in Ohio. It would've been a giant morale boost for people in the US.
