Some good news from Iran!
Looks like the Basiji, the armed thugs who have been beating and killing people in the streets to enforce the will of the Iranian government, are running out of steam! A lot of them are deserting, and more of them are standing down. Some of the police are now standing with the greens and even wearing some green.

And Majlis Khobregan, the Assembly of Experts, is having an emergency meeting in Qom, and there can be only one reason for this meeting: discussion of removing Ayatollah Khamenei from his position as Supreme Leader.

I think the good guys are winning!

Anyways, that's what I'm reading on http://twitter.com/timeline/search?q=%23IranElection

5. Just go to the Twitter front page, and search for the topic #iranelection.
You may have to have an account to do this.

4. There are other, more likely, reasons for the meeting.
See this story about how the Guardian Council can decide whether to "recount" the election and come up w/ carefully calibrated new "results" to create the outcome they want. They also have to decide who to blame (scapegoat) for the original wrong count.

It is really good news that the violence is lessening, if it is. Of course the paramilitary does its most deadly work at night and you posted in the late afternoon Tehran time.

6. Could be, but my bet is that it's too late for them to try to smooth things over with a "recount".
Khamenei tried that, it didn't work.

I think Khamenei and Bushmedinajad are just about finished.
