300 Protesters "Rush" the Capitol Building
As a sidebar to today's protest, about 300 protesters, led by
some waving "SDS" signs "rushed" (CNN's
phrase) the capitol grounds, broke through the outer perimeter
and made it all the way to the base of the building.

Actually, I saw the whole thing. They did make it through and
were stopped just short of the steps leading up to the
entrance. At first, it looked like the Capitol Police were
going to react forcefully, but they held off and there was
nothing more than a little shoving.

One guy told me that the CP is wary because they are still
battling lawsuits from mass arrests at a previous protest.

4. Actually, I Think The Police Backed Off and Let Them Through
Pretty amazing that there was no violence given how paranoid
everyone in DC is these days.

Funny, the uplink is sponsored by corporations.

The anti-corporate globalization movement died on Sept 11, 2001. Those "martyrs" fucked up everything. But, I guess that was their point. <sigh>
