Obama's Poll Numbers Have Dropped - Perhaps They Need To Drop Further
I've been a staunch Obama supporter, but I am not liking his retreat on gay issues, his wishy-washy positions on health care and his taking up the mantle of bush on any number of issues.

He seems to be ignoring his base, the people who put him in the WH. He seems ready to ignore campaign promises, even taking verbiage down from the WH website that supported gay causes.

I'll be the first one to admit that Obama can strategize with the best of them and find ways to get things done, but I am not liking his abandonment of core liberal issues, his seeming inability to take the same strong stands that he took as a candidate, and - worst of all - his not going full throttle on progressive issues with the once-in-a-lifetime majorities he enjoys in Congress. And all of this at a time when the entire country is self-identifying as D, as gay issues are being won on the state level, as the military is calling for changes to DADT, and as 80% of Americans want a public option.

So maybe he and his handlers need to see an even greater dip in his poll numbers to realize that he needs to be dancing with the people who brought him to the dance. As he slips closer to a 50% approval rating, he will have to realize that it is Ds who are unhappy with him, not just Rs.

8. And indies, poll-wise are on the side of Ds.
I.e., heath care (not health insurance) reform, the Employee Free Choice Act (and other issues but I am too tired to look them up right now). The difference being is that they are indies and not inclined to support party over ideology. If Obama and the Dems want to stay in power, they will pay attention to both the indies and democrats that got them elected.

9. Actually, looking at the poll, Obama's numbers are fairly steady for Indies too. They've just gone
down dramatically for conservatives.

12. At this point, I am three issue voter and Obama is slipping in all 3
1) Energy
2) National Healthcare Option
3) Sensible, Humane Food.

I am going to join with DFA to kick Obama's ass right out on the street if the healthcare bill does not have a medicare for all type public option in it. He won't be begging us to stop on behalf of blue dogs. It will be his own sorry ass he is begging for.
